AUSTLII

AUSTLII is a vast resource which provides free internet access to public Australian legal materials and contains over 500 000 searchable documents. Amongst the primary materials are legislation, treaties, and decisions of courts and tribunals. (Currently included are full tecxt databases of most Australian decisions and legislation, for example, the High Court, the Federal court, the Family Court, AAT decisions and many states' courts and tribunals). Secondary materials include law reform reports and royal commission reports.

Also to be found on this site are a comprehensive index to law on the Net. There are subject specific databases, amongst which are Australian human rights material, the Australian Treaties Library and the Tax Office determinations and rulings.

From this site can be accessed judgements, transcripts, the court calendar and recent speeches. A large amount of information is gathered here and maintained by the Attorney General's Department, amongst which is an overview of Australia's legal system. There are links to the (federal) Attorney-General's home page, all Commonwealth legislation, most recent Commonwealth court and tribunal decisions plus some state and territory legislation.

RADIO NATIONAL - THE LAW REPORT

The Law Report is aired on Radio National (576 AM in Sydney) on Tuesdays at 8:30am and repeated at 8:30pm. The programme frequently deals with current issues relating to criminal law within a broader context which examines legal culture, legal ideas and problems in an accessible and "jargon-free" way. The web link to the Law Report includes transcipts of the programme as well as an overview of the week's stories.
